RJEM Teaching Fellowship

RJEM Teaching Fellowship

The Racial Justice in Early Mathematics (RJEM) Teaching Fellowship is a one-year professional development, mentoring, and research opportunity intended to support kindergarten teachers from across the United States. Those accepted to the program will:

  • Cultivate a robust understanding of racial justice in early math.
  • Implement racial justice centered teaching practices in their classrooms.
  • Participate in a network of mentorship and peer support.
  • Contribute to a growing understanding of how early math teaching can further the cause of racial justice.

This Fellowship will run from June 2023 to July 2024 and is offered by the Racial Justice in Early Math project – a joint program of the Erikson Institute in Chicago and the University of Illinois Chicago, and led by Drs. Jennifer McCray and Danny Martin.
