Teachers Learning from Other Teachers

Teachers Learning from Other Teachers

At Chase Elementary in Chicago, teachers from PreK to 5th grade meet regularly in grade level teams with the goal of sharing their practice with one another. As they try new instructional strategies, such as Math Talks or Number Talks, they plan together, observe one another live or on video, and reflect with the purpose of improving students’ access to the mathematical content. Routines that provide teachers safe practice with feedback from colleagues is a powerful mechanism for embedded professional development.
