The 2024 RJEM Webinar Series spotlights conversations on different aspects of early math teaching and learning (e.g., student-teacher relationships, school policies, curricular choices, family engagement, instructional practices, teacher preparation, etc.) from a racial justice perspective.
Goals
In a series of three online events hosted throughout the year, the 2024 RJEM Webinar Series gathers educators, researchers, and community members from across the country who, through sharing their expertise and experience, provide important insights on how to meaningfully create access to early mathematics for each and every student and to take actions that foster racial justice in our classrooms, schools, and broader professional practice.
Events
Open to teachers, community members, administrators, and policymakers, the RJEM 2024 Webinar Series includes the following events:
- Webinar 1: Who is labeled smart?: The impact of racial stereotypes in early math education
- Webinar 2: Family engagement in early math education from a racial justice perspective: learning from and alongside families and communities
- Webinar 3: Racial Justice in Early Math: Discussing connections between issues of immigration and math learning
Participants are encouraged to attend the entire series. However, each webinar can be taken advantage of as a standalone event. Details and registration for each webinar will be made available closer to the date of the event.
