As part of its continuing partnership with Chicago Public Schools to improve pre-k through fifth grade math education, the Collaborative is working directly with teacher leaders and administrators in 12 elementary schools. The second phase of an initiative supported by Chicago Community Trust designed to prepare CPS teachers to achieve the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics (CCSS-M), the project aims to create professional learning communities (PLCs) in schools.
The Collaborative will support teachers in understanding and implementing the CCSS-M and provide strategies and tools so that their students will achieve the standards of the Common Core. This is done through learning labs and individualized in-person coaching. PLCs are designed to show teachers how to share information with their colleagues, in addition to teaching well.
