Anticipating and Sorting Student Responses in a Grade Level Meeting

Anticipating and Sorting Student Responses in a Grade Level Meeting

This is the second half of a grade level meeting. View the first half here.

After choosing a common task, the teachers in this grade level meeting anticipate student responses, then sort and sequence them by level of complexity. To aid in the sorting process, they make use of the Landscape of Learning (Number Sense, Addition, and Subtraction [pdf] and Multiplication and Division [pdf]).

This collaborative work deepens the teachers’ understanding of the math and helps them recognize how children might be thinking mathematically about a particular problem.
