Over 100 teachers and teacher facilitators gathered in July of 2016 to explore foundational math concepts.
On the morning of the first day the concentration was on sets, the use of attributes to sort, and related big ideas. The second morning centered on number sense and the many uses of number, while the third day concentrated on measurement, measurable attributes, and a number of similar concepts and ideas. The afternoons were dedicated to break-out sessions where teachers and facilitators could concentrate on real-world applications of the learning that took place. And finally, the last morning was spent on an important question: What’s so big about the big ideas?
